Plan and Benefit Options for Individuals and Families
Selecthealth offers three main types of health insurance plans:
The Base Level Plan with Office Visit Waiver - (Highest Cost / Most Comprehensive Coverage)
This is a traditional medical insurance plan with a set deductible amount for medical services, and a lower deductible for prescriptions. The deductible is waived for office visits, allowing the insured to simply pay a co-pay each time they visit the doctor.
These plans usually require the insured to pay a certain percentage of their remaining medical bills, after the deductible is met. Of course, there is always a maximum amount the insured would be required to pay each year in a worst case scenario, called the out-of-pocket maximum.
The Base Level Plan - (Medium Cost / Great Coverage)
Similar to the Base-level plan with the office visit deductible waiver, but there is no coverage for office visits until after the deductible has been met. This is a great option for those who want prescription coverage and don't mind paying for their own office visits each year and paying less each month for their plan. Of course, preventive care such as annual physicals are covered at 100% before deductible.
Qualified High Deductible Health Plans - (Low Cost / Excellent Major Medical Coverage)
These plans have higher deductibles than most traditional plans. The deductible options range from $1,500 per person to $10,000 per family, per year. Because the insured is taking on more risk with a higher deductible, the cost of these plans is dramatically lower than traditional plans.
In addition, this type of plan gives you the option of opening up a health savings account (HSA). You can deposit money pre-tax into your health savings account and pay for medical, dental, and vision expenses tax-free.
Preventive care is also covered at 100% before the deductible, making these plans a great money-saving tool for people who have few medical expenses during the year.
Additional Coverages Offered by Selecthealth
Supplemental Accident Rider
For an additional cost, Selecthealth customers can add a supplemental accident rider onto their plan. This gives each person on the plan an up-front benefit of $1,000 per accident, for accidents only. This can be an attractive option if you or your family live an active lifestyle.
