The Utah Comprehensive Health Insurance Pool is a Utah state funded program that is administered by SelectHealth (formerly Intermountain Healthcare, or IHC).
The purpose of the Health Insurance Pool (sometimes referred to as HIPUtah) is to provide an insurance option for those who have been denied through a private health insurance company or are uninsurable (usually due to an ineligible health condition).
There are other requirements that a person must meet to be eligible for coverage through the Utah Comprehensive Health Insurance Pool. One of them is a residency requirement. For more information about eligibility, please refer to the eligibility requirements.

Also, the requirements for financial assistance (in paying the premiums) are fairly liberal compared to other government programs. To see if you qualify for financial assistance, please complete this worksheet.
To apply for HIP Utah, please complete the application found here and mail it, along with proof of prior insurance, the premium waiver application (optional), and medical records (showing the reason you were denied) all other requested information to:
